PVG800S Conveyor Belt for Tough Underground and Mining Duty

What the PVG800S Conveyor Belt Is

The PVG800S Conveyor Belt is a solid-woven, PVC-based fire-retardant conveyor belt built for underground coal mining and similar heavy-duty service. In the PVG family, the number 800 refers to the belt’s longitudinal tensile strength class, while the S suffix marks a variant within that class. It is also known as a PVG solid woven conveyor belt, and in many tender documents it appears as a PVG800S fire-resistant conveyor belt. The construction uses a single solid-woven fabric carcass fully impregnated and covered with PVC, which gives it good resistance to tearing, moisture, and flame propagation.

The belt is part of the broader PVC conveyor belt family but should not be confused with ordinary PVC belts for light goods handling. The PVG800S is a mining-grade product, typically specified for underground coal mining conveyors, main haulage drifts, and transfer points where flame retardancy and antistatic behavior are essential.

Construction and Working Principle

A PVG800S belt is built around a solid-woven fabric core. The warp and weft yarns are woven into a single strong carcass, then dipped and coated with PVC paste. The cover can be smooth or have a patterned surface for better grip on inclines. The result is a belt that does not delaminate like multi-ply fabric belts and resists edge damage and impact.

On the conveyor, the belt runs over a drive pulley, tail pulley, and bend pulleys, supported by idler rollers on the carrying side and return side. The pulleys are not interchangeable: the drive pulley transmits traction, the tail pulley sets return direction, and bend pulleys guide the belt around curves or transitions. Conveyor brackets hold the idlers and pulleys in alignment. A well-aligned frame with properly sized pulleys and idlers helps the PVG800S belt track straight and reach its expected service life.

Typical Specifications and Reference Data

PVG800S values vary between manufacturers, so treat the figures below as common reference data, not as fixed universal specifications. Buyers should confirm actual data with the supplier for each order.

PVG800S Conveyor Belt

Parameter Common Reference Range
Belt type PVG solid woven, fire-retardant, antistatic
Strength class 800 N/mm longitudinal (PVG800 class)
Belt width B650, B800, B1000, B1200, B1400, B1600, B1800, B2000
Cover thickness 3+1.5, 4+2, 5+2, 6+2, 8+3 mm
Surface form Smooth, or patterned for incline grip
Core Solid-woven fabric, PVC impregnated

Width and strength are selected by conveyor design, not by a single fixed rule. A wider belt does not automatically pair with one pulley diameter, and shaft diameter must be calculated from the actual load and pulley design. When a project needs a different strength class, an EP conveyor belt or a steel cord belt may be compared, but these are different products and cannot replace the PVG800S where solid-woven fire resistance is required.

Where It Is Used

  • Underground coal mining main haulage and gate roads
  • Mine transfer points and bunker discharge conveyors
  • Coal preparation plants and power plant coal handling
  • Cement and aggregate plants where fire resistance is specified
  • Tunnels and enclosed structures with limited space

In these settings, the belt works together with idler rollers, conveyor pulleys, and conveyor brackets to keep material moving reliably. The PVG800S is often chosen where a flame retardant conveyor belt is mandatory and where moisture or fines could damage a multi-ply carcass.

What Buyers Should Check

Before ordering a PVG800S conveyor belt, confirm the required strength class, belt width, cover thickness, and surface pattern. Ask for the fire and antistatic performance data in writing. Check that the drive pulley, tail pulley, and bend pulleys are sized for the belt tension and that idler spacing suits the load. Also verify edge quality, splice method, and delivery length. For high-abrasion duties, an abrasion resistant conveyor belt grade may be compared, but the PVG800S remains the subject where solid-woven fire-resistant construction is required. A short review of pulley alignment and idler condition before installation will help avoid premature edge wear.
